We were so excited to work with Chef Stephen Durfee's students at the CIA again this summer! Sadly, I was away and not able to attend in person but I sent the Paulas in my stead: two of the awesome QM volunteer crew members, Paula Philipps and Paula Brutocao.
They met Elee Hampton and Alejandro Mora at the studio to show them the mosaic material, design and process and explain a bit more about the Quake Mosaic project.
Then they went up to the CIA in St. Helena and were treated to an array of desserts the students made, all inspired by the local artists they were paired with. Check out the platter they served the Quake Mosaic dessert on: a (clean) donated shard from the earthquake that will later be incorporated into the mosaic design. Sweet!
