MURALS for Public Spaces

‘Monarch Sunrise’ | Aldea Children & Family Services, Napa, CA

I created full room mural for a new Children’s Room at the new Monarch Center at Aldea, a non-profit providing professional mental health, child welfare and support services for Napa families. It will be used as a waiting and observation room for children while their families receive services. The director asked me to create a space that would stimulate, calm and welcome their clients and provide a healthy, temporary distraction as they went through a very difficult time.

The project was supported by the Napa Sunrise Rotary Club and Devine Paint Center. After designing the mural, several Rotary members and community members helped to create it. It includes numerous hidden native species to find including over 45 creatures: Monarch butterflies, caterpillars and cocoons; ladybugs; a dragonfly; a honeybee gathering nectar on a flower; bunnies and jackrabbits; and a Western fence lizard sunning himself. The natural landscape showcases many local species including California poppies, milkweed, lavender, and California oaks.

‘North Pole’ | 200sf Exterior Mural, First Street Napa, Napa, CA

I created this temporary seasonal backdrop for Santa’s visit to downtown Napa. Santa’s sleigh was stationed in front of the mural where he waited for the kiddos to come tell him their sugar plum dreams. The 20’ x 10’ wall is in the Rotunda of First Street Napa, an outdoor shopping area in downtown Napa.

Boho Butterfly + Chevron + Window Painting | Boho Lifestyle, Napa, CA

The butterfly is on a wall in one of the dressing rooms. It is in front of the mirror to make the customer appear to have wings.

We painted this chevron pattern on the store's entry way floor to match Boho's black and white pattern bags.

‘Columbines for Linda’ | Ladies Bathroom, Napa River Inn, Napa, CA

The venerable owner of the Napa River Inn, Harry Price, wanted to lighten up this space and make it more feminine and beautiful. This bathroom is located off a bountiful, landscaped outdoor plaza, so he asked me to take inspiration from the flowers and colors in the adjacent gardens and "bring the outdoors in". He also told me the columbine was his wife Linda’s favorite flower, so I made this delicate bloom the centerpiece of each wall.

Historically Inspired Mural, La Nuova Porziuncola, North Beach, San Francisco, CA

Working with a team under the direction of muralist Angela Tirrell, we created intricately detailed banding and wall designs on this shrine located in North Beach, San Francisco. The client envisioned and built the shrine as replica of a 13th century early Gothic-style church, Basilica di Santa Chiara in Assisi, Italy. The mural designs are all inspired by the original church's Medieval artwork.
